യക്ഷ പ്രശ്നം – ഭാഗം 1
വനവാസ കാലത്ത് യമധര്‍മ്മൻ യക്ഷവേഷത്തില്‍ യുധിഷിഠിരനുമായി നടത്തുന്ന ധര്‍മ്മ പ്രശ്‌നോത്തരിയാണ് കഥ. ദാഹത്താല്‍ വലഞ്ഞ യുധിഷ്ഠിരനു വേണ്ടി തടാകത്തിലേക്ക് വെള്ളം കൊണ്ടുവരാൻ പോകുന്ന പാണ്ഡവ സഹോദരങ്ങള്‍ ഓരോരുത്തരായി മരിച്ചു വീഴുന്നു.
തടാകത്തിന്‍റെ ഉടമയാണെന്ന് അവകാശപ്പെട്ട യക്ഷന്‍റെ ആജ്ഞക്ക് വിരുദ്ധമായി വെള്ളമെടുത്തതിനാലാണ് ഇവര്‍ മരിക്കുന്നത്. അവസാനമെത്തിയ യുധിഷ്ഠിരൻ യക്ഷനുമായി സംവാദത്തില്‍ ഏര്‍പ്പെടുന്നു.

കിരാതാർജ്ജുനീയം
കിരാതാർജുനിയ (സംസ്കൃതം: किरातार्जुनीय, Of Arjuna and the krata) സംസ്കൃതത്തിൽ എഴുതിയ ഭാരവിയുടെ ഒരു ഇതിഹാസ കാവ്യമാണ്. ആറാം നൂറ്റാണ്ടിലോ അതിനുമുമ്പോ രചിക്കപ്പെട്ടതായി വിശ്വസിക്കപ്പെടുന്നു, കിരാത അല്ലെങ്കിൽ “പർവതവാസിയായ വേട്ടക്കാരൻ്റെ” വേഷത്തിൽ അർജ്ജുനനും ശിവനും തമ്മിലുള്ള യുദ്ധം വിവരിക്കുന്ന പതിനെട്ട് കാണ്ഡങ്ങൾ ഇതിൽ അടങ്ങിയിരിക്കുന്നു. നൈഷധചരിതത്തിനും ശിശുപാല വധത്തിനും ഒപ്പം, ആറ് സംസ്കൃത മഹാകാവ്യങ്ങളിൽ വലിയ മൂന്നെണ്ണത്തിൽ ഒന്നാണിത്, അല്ലെങ്കിൽ മഹത്തായ ഇതിഹാസങ്ങൾ. അതിൻ്റെ ഗുരുത്വാകർഷണത്താൽ സംസ്കൃത നിരൂപകർക്കിടയിൽ ഇത് ശ്രദ്ധേയമാണ്
Kiratharjuneeyam
Kirātārjunīyam is an epic poem authored by Bhāravi, composed in Sanskrit. It is believed to have been created in the 6th century or earlier and comprises eighteen cantos that narrate the battle between Arjuna and Shiva, who appears as a kirata, or “mountain-dwelling hunter.”

ഈ പ്രഭാഷണത്തിൽ, ഭാരതീയ വീക്ഷണത്തിൽ ജന്മനക്ഷത്രം എന്ന വിഷയം പ്രൊഫ.സുന്ദരേശ്വരൻ അവതരിപ്പിക്കുന്നു. നക്ഷത്രം ആകാശത്ത് താരതമ്യേന നിശ്ചലമാണെന്ന് അദ്ദേഹം പറയുമ്പോൾ, ആര്യഭട്ടൻ ആര്യഭടീയം എഴുതിയ അഞ്ചാം നൂറ്റാണ്ടിലെ ക്രിസ്ത്യൻ കാലഘട്ടത്തിലെങ്കിലും ഭൂമിയുടെ ദൈനംദിന ഭ്രമണത്തെക്കുറിച്ച് പുരാതന ഇന്ത്യക്കാർക്ക് നന്നായി അറിയാമായിരുന്നു എന്നത് ശ്രദ്ധിക്കേണ്ടതാണ്. എന്നാൽ എല്ലാ പ്രായോഗിക ആവശ്യങ്ങൾക്കും നമ്മുടെ ലൗകിക അനുഭവം (ഗ്രഹിച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന ലോകം) അംഗീകരിക്കപ്പെട്ടു.
Prof (Dr.) N. K. Sundareswaran
is a Sanskrit scholar of International repute. He is a specialist in Vedic studies and Indian mathematics. Teaches Sanskrit literary theory in the University of Calicut . He has many books to his credit. Also edited many works. “Kerala school of mathematics : Trajectories and Impact” and “Utsavah sudhiyamalam”
In this talk Prof. Sundareswaran introduces the topic of birth star in the Indian perspective. It should be noted, when he says that Nakshatra is relatively static in the sky, that ancient Indians were well aware of diurnal rotation of the earth at least from 5th century Christian Era when Aryabhata wrote Aryabhateeyam. But for all practical purposes our mundane experience (world as is perceived ) was accepted.
